He didn't fuck it up, he started juicing to get big enough to look believable and got punished despite everyone else juicing.

There's no way William Regal was going over a babyface Triple H for the world title. I'll concede that maybe he had a chance after the 2008 draft when CM Punk was bombing as the world heavyweight champion. That was the point where any fucking midcarder could win the belt without it seeming like they've been elevated up the pecking order
