The four block format, which means we don't get to see a lot of the main eventers fight, taking a lot of the fun out of it. And because there's 4 blocks, they have to put people there like Chase Owens who has no business in there.
The crowds for the first few nights were awful and sucked the soul out of the show.
Tana's done. He has slowed down over the last few years, but he's past the point of no return now. Instead of looking forward to the Tana match each night, I dread it. Tana used to carry the G-1.
We are in a general changing of the guard right now in NJPW and while Yota, Ren and Shota will likely all be big main eventers, they aren't there yet. I've never liked how NJPW has young lions do basic matches then sends them away, where they often get less work than they would at home. Maybe it made sense in the territory days but Shota Umino for example was working sometimes just one match a month on his excursion. How much help could that possibly be?
Their 20 minute time limit rule hasn't made any sense yet. It should be an excuse for everyone to work faster and have more explosive matches. Instead, only a handful of matches have gone under 10 minutes. The only thing the 20 minute rule has accomplished is bring down a few matches that could have been better.
