oh and with how many millions of dollars Bushiroad are collecting off of Forbidden Door for the past 2 years now which is money they DESPERATELY need, it was proven that Harold's resistance to collaborating with AEW was indeed wrong. NJPW is a live event business and when the pandemic took all that away it blew a deep hole into Bushiroad's NJPW coffers that he was actively resisting any solution to trying to fix when AEW was trying to extend them a lifeline to start co-promoting with them in North America during that time.

I'm a King's Road chad but I have to correct you there. Even during NJPW's darkest era, they were still outdrawing every other company aside from 2-3 times in the early 2000s when NOAH outdrew them, and even then, the numbers weren't even that big, just a measly 500 hundred. If you look up the highest attended shows between 2000-2005, NJPW's shows have both the most amount of shows and the highest overall number. If only Mrs. Baba didn't fuck up, AJPW would have probably overtook NJPW, as Muto's leaving was happening either way and him joining with the pillars in AJPW would have been tremendous.

NJPW of America was founded under Meij, and was a directive of Buishiroad to expand NJPW into America/the West.
It was always going to happen regardless of who the NJPW President/CEO was. NJPWoA was already established and up and running when Ohbari took it over from Meij.

Western expansion was doomed the moment Kenny left because they no longer had an open field for the #2 spot in America. You can argue all day about whether or not he was worth the money he was asking for in order to stay, but if you look at the bigger picture it would’ve kept that #2 spot wide open for the planned expansion. This is bad tho. The 4th Gen Heavyweight crown belt was the most beautiful belt in all of pro wrestling for decades. And had the most respected/prestigious lineage.

Rocky actually is the booker of NJPW USA shows and is the point man for all NJPW in USA/international activities.
When Gallows+Anderson got fired from WWE in 2020 and they brought back Talkn' Shop for a while they would openly talk about it and rib Rocky who kept denying it/telling them to kayfabe it, and they even once gave out his shoot email address on their Patreon encouraging wrestlers to bombard him with emails/audition reels to try and get booked on the early NJPW Strong shows when they were looking for talent.
Filthy Tom often alludes to it as well, tongue in cheek, on his podcast with Alvarez that Rocky is a power broker and not a man to cross if you wanna stay in/get booked in NJPW.
