Let's take a look at what they drew in the G1 Climax.
Day 1: 3,145
Day 2: 2,888
Day 3: 1,239
Day 4: 1,657
Day 5: 2,361
Now compare to what the crowd numbers at the venues for the G1 throughout the year.
Day 1 and 2 were at the Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center. From the other shows this year, these shows were the second and fourth most attended shows there. Number 1 and 3 were also New Japan, from the New Beginning tour.
Day 3 was at the Yamagata Sports Center, which they haven't been to since the G1 in 2021 and drew 863 that year. An improvement.
Day 4 was at Xebio Arena Sendai, and this is only the second time this venue was used by any promotion. The first show was held by NOAH, and this show outdrew the NOAH show by nearly 400 people.
Day 5 was at Aore Nagaoka, and this was the second highest drawn show at the venue, with number one being the New Japan Cup Finals. The Cup drew nearly 1,000 more fans.
Japan in general out are slowly coming back to watch wrestling, but they are still not coming back from the lockdown mentality as fast as the rest of the world is.
