Troi was a completely incompetent liability in kayfabe. The ship's bartender did her job better than her, and she knew nothing about how the ship worked in spite of having a high rank (lt cmdr). There was one episode where they had to explain to her that in the case of a hull breach, some doors would close because otherwise the whole ship would depressurise, and also that a failure in the forcefield holding the ship's ANTIMATTER FUEL would be a bad thing.
