>>10908319Yupp, being a mechanic. We basically get paid per job through something get called flat rate pay. Say a brake job pays 1.0 hours and you do 12 brake jobs in an 8 hour shift , you were 150% productive and get paid for 12 hour of labor despite only being physically at work for 8.
The smarter and better you are at your job, the more bull shit managers will throw your way since you’re the only one that can figure it out, and conversely if you’re some turbo tard the managers will feed you nothing but easy shit that you can do so the shop’s overall productivity numbers stay up and the manager gets his bonus from the owner.
So at the end of the day you could be a master diagnostic technician with 25 years of experience in an a given 8 hour shift only get paid for 6.25 hours of labor because you had a bunch of basket case cars to diagnose and repair which required a bunch of sophisticate testing and meanwhile some dumbass who only knows how do oil changes and brake jobs got paid for 10-12 hours of labor in that same 8 hour shift and took home more money than you in a much easier way without having to use their brain at all.
That’s why Bob Holley had to wrestle, he wasn’t getting paid enough as a mechanic
