>>10978807The "scary" gimmick NEVER works unless the character is booked as unbeatable or very close to it. That's why Undertaker was such a success and Bray Wyatt, House of Black, and Kross are not. Kane is somewhat of an anomaly but - as obvious as this sounds - his character always worked better when he was booked stronger.
The problem with pretty much all horror gimmicks is they are fragile, in a sense. They rely on a mystique which can be shattered in one match or one feud. Whereas any other typical wrestler like an AJ Styles for example, could come out on the losing end of a rivalry or two occasionally and not have it completely change the way he is seen.
