People have said they like working with him because he's safe and not a mark for himself, which makes him practically a Unicorn in the modern era.

The style he works would have made him the GOAT if he had wrestled in the early 90s. Bret would have had a 5* match him and put him over.

In certain ways he is ("by far best of all time" is bait but the general point is fine), he's just associated with some really shitty eras of WWE.

Had awful injury and attitude problems but especially the backstage stuff seems like it was all from when he was much younger

exactly. and its a political thing. randy orton and john cena ran the WWE back in the day. they were untouchable. orton failed wellness tests and all that shit and the WWE just ignored it. he blew off the rehearsal with Undertaker for Wrestlemania and his career wasnt hurt. dude just has luck on his side. oh yeah, took his dick out in front of a writer and nothing came of that either.
