Meltzer's introduction to British wrestling was through guys like Chris Adams and Les Thornton, who couldn't draw in the UK so went to the US to earn a living. They were bitter about the Crabtrees so they told Meltzer a bunch of bullshit about Daddy being selfish or killing territories, stuff which is all easily disproven. Meltzer believed them word-for-word, and refused to change his mind when confronted with facts later on. Unironically no issue gets Meltzer angrier than being corrected about Big Daddy, which is why he's so stubborn about the matter.

That's the problem with Meltzer. All it takes is one person to tell him someone else in the business is a bad person and he'll believe it for the rest of time. He'll never try to get the other side of it. It was the same shit when Christopher Daniels badmouthed Hana to him, or Sara Del Rey badmouthing Tessa.
