Seen an interview where he said he was only interested in WWE for the money and so his nephews could see him on TV weekly. He's been utterly wasted in terms of his potential though.

Maybe but I bet they more stem to getting injured in 2016 rather than anything else. Like he came to WWE, was a huge deal in NXT, immediately made inaugural Universal Champ on main brand, gets hurt and that's when his life gets less stable than the others.

Quick look at their figures and Balor earns the least. Overall worth 2 mil with a 1 mil/year salary. AJ is worth 8 mil with a 3 mill/year salary.
