I thought it was super based and was glad to see it pop up on YouTube in the 2000s Wish I had to the magazine in front of me to scan for you guys, had some cool pics in it. Believe the OP pic was included along with several I can't really find online.

Fire is only entertaining when it goes wrong.
Explosives and glass are more impactful and thumbtacks stay sticked into people.
Fire peaks with the move, there's no after effect unless one of the guys stays on fire or for some reason the match keeps going and you see the burns actually appear on their skin.
In IWA Japan they had a lantern match where the fire was limited to these metal lanterns, it worked OK, guys could smash into them and embers and burning wood would come out.
