however, i would argue that 2004-2007 might be the most culturally interesting period in wwe history simply because it was purest illustration of vince mcmahon as a bonafide auteur. the odd and eerie storylines and characters they were coming up with to put together that unique variety show at legitimately fascinating. it is absolutely bonkers to realize that something like snitsky the baby punter, the numerous rape & kidnapping angles, the biting social commentary of kerwin white and muhammad hassan, the dicks and billy and chuck and the mexicools and viscera, to the paroxysm which was a fake death angle being interrupted with a shoot murder-suicide, all involved the same creative force. it's a historical gem.
