The problem is Tony's inability to create young stars. Old timers already know the score so they don't need Tony's guidance but the younger guys are unironically taking his advice.
Look at Cody's AEW run, Tony couldn't/wouldn't direct him into the main event with good quality material. He goes to WWE and becomes one of the top guys and nothing felt forced about the push.
