Last year's attendance has officially been surpassed. Saturday in Ryogoku is running with 2 people per box seat just like Sakura Genesis which drew
6,510, 200 less people than last year's Final in Budokan but more than last year's block finals and semifinals combined. Sunday runs at full capacity with 4 people per box seat, but also possibly in the midst of a typhoon. They can definitely draw past 50k total this year.

We did pop when EVIL won but that was because he beat SANADA.

SANADA and EVIL got zero reaction from the crowd at the start but EVIL’s the heel so it’s whatever. SANADA is the worrying one since the fans just didn’t care about him starting out.

That’s why nobody chanted for SANADA at the start of the match.

Yeah. As the match went on, SANADA did get some support but the support he gets pales in comparison to Ospreay and Naito who would have had fans screaming for them to overcome EVIL.

I was embarrassed for SANADA to get that kind of reaction. Maybe it's the funabashi crowd but it's still mainly Tokyo fans who went (made the hour journey there from ryogoku).

We will see how it goes for SANADA at ryogoku but it doesn't look promising

I will elaborate on why the 20 minute time limit is a good move.

1) Time limit draws make the G1 easier to book.

2) Time limits create tension more often when they can be reached.

3) A promotion can put more wrestlers over using time limit draws.

4) No time limit for the final means more if time limit draws are more common.

5) NJPW was dreadful during the COVID years in part because matches were often 5-10 minutes longer than they should have been. Cutting time down makes matches more frantic, they feel more competitive and tense.
