The only person I'd put on his level is Mil Mascaras since, like Rey, his influence and legacy is global as opposed to being largely Mexican like El Santo and Blue Demon. But I'd put Rey ahead of Mil because he won basically everything at the highest level of the biggest global promotion whereas Mil didn't.

Rey was barely in his 20s and had only been wrestling a few years when he was in AAA. Heyman brought him and Psicosis in in 1995 which got smarks/industry people talking and led to WCW signing him where he was treated like a big deal pretty much right off the bat. Rey was still in his mid/late 20s when WCW closed too.

Why bother going back to Mexico for less money when he's basically been a big name in the biggest market for 30 years?
