Two chops can be nice.
5 minutes of straight chopping that goes nowhere, is modern dogshit.
FTR and Juice & Gin had "the best tag match of all time", and it had 10 minutes of straight slapping. Revolting.
When you're trying to do wrestling and you're asking guys to wrestle and all they do is the popless chop, that can get frustrating.

Recently we watched a TNA PPV from 2005 and my wife, who's only seen modern wrestling from the last 5 years, was astonished by the near-absence of chopping. Modern wrestlers default to chopping when their pea brains can't catch up to what's happeing during a match.

Just because some wrestlers used chops as part of their offense, that doesn't mean chops are a staple of wrestling. Most wrestlers did not use them. And those that did used them sparingly, although there were a few exceptions such as Flair. In this way, it made wrestlers that used chops stand out and it made the chops seem more impactful. Now that everyone and their mom does chops, they look silly and it makes wrestling look fake.

Hogan wasn't pissing and moaning when he was on top in WWF though, nor when he was the top heel in WCW. He used his backstage influence all the time, of course. But he didn't break kayfabe and he didn't complain like a little bitch unless it was a kayfabe promo during his Hollywood Hogan gimmick. Hogan was also one of the top draws of all time, unlike Punk.

it's not only that everyone does the chops, they all have to do the spot where everything grinds to a halt and they take turns chopping each other ( I know if I'm in a fight I always let my opponent get some offence in, honour or something)
