Easy there Lance Storm, there is no actual demand for women's wrestling in Japan anymore, they have to appeal in different ways or else nobody will come and the independent wrestlers can't make money. Many lower level wrestlers are paying their own money to wrestle and hoping to make some money back from selling cheki and other shit. The people who will come because they think they'll see a great match are few and far between.

One of the biggest points is that the system turned into idolshit and a company uses girls to appeal with sex and bring in fans, and the company reaps the benefits while the girl has to try and sell shit herself to make money, and what this leads to is girls having to develop weird relationships with fans to lead them on and try to keep them coming back and buying shit everytime. To her it's not about wrestling, wrestling is just the excuse to do it, and she wanted to be more than that.

At the time she was in a stable called "Passion Red" with Nanae & Natsuki Taiyo. From what I remember it was because Kana got mad during a tag match for some reason and refused to tag in and when she did just walked around and tagged back out.
During the post match backstage promo Nanae verbally tore her a new one and smacked her in the face hard. She might have even punched her.
It wasn't until Kana's meltdown and manifesto that fans realized it was a shoot.

Stardom doesn't have any ties to traditional joshi puroresu. Real puroresu promotions adhere to Japanese wrestling traditions and train their wrestlers daily in athletics and in-ring work, anything. This is done in a dojo, where the wrestlers spend most of their time. They live in dorms and do most of the work themselves. Training is very hard to get through, but also produces results. NJPW obviously famously has this system in place. The traditional joshi promotions are owned and led by people with ties to the classic scene (AJW).
Stardom does not. It is idol pro wrestling, mostly structured in the same way the actual idol and entertainment industry is. Their objective isn't to put on a good pro-wrestling show, but to sell merchandise. This is not to say there aren't also good wrestlers in those companies, but their primary goal is to recruit attractive potential idols and athletic demands are lower than in traditional (joshi) wrestling companies. Their "dojo" is basically a performance center akin to the one WWE has, where attendance is obviously encouraged, but no daily rigorous training takes place. Stardom/TJPW/Ice/Gatoh all fall under this umbrella. Their focus is on marketability, not on wrestling. None of the people running these companies have ties to Zenjo.

Joshi before the recent revival was a totally different thing and it's hard to explain it if you weren't trying to be a fan back then. Most promotions were run by female "legends" who were desperately clinging to their fame by beating everyone, no one was being elevated to any positions of star power for fear of their spots and it was all very self-servicing.
So, in 2010 (about a year before Stardom launched), Kana had been a wrestler for roughly five years at the time. Some joshis are tired of her stiff style and actively complained. And after half a decade into her career, she found herself largely disillusioned and disgusted by the joshi scene which she found overly stylized and more focused on how the women looked than the product itself.
So she writes a manifesto for the industry. There are numerous points, but the most important were these five
>Expand joshi wrestling to include other styles
>Eliminate obviously fake moves
>Conduct a review of the industry as a whole and get rid of wrestlers there that clearly shouldn't be there
>Deal with the negative toxic enivornment of the scene and promote positivity and mutual respect
>Encourage those who couldn't develop their persona or style to try other industries rather than flounder in uncertainty
So you got a hotshot joshi known for her stiff style calling for a motion to improve the industry.
So even though there was nothing wrong with her demands, she was in most folks eyes a rookie overstepping her bounds and similarly by extension burying the industry by pointing out its very blatant flaws. In a society that values conformity, age, and seniority.

It had been a long simmerint thing because, again, Kana basically had the same attitude as Low Ki. The vets hated that she wouldn't listen to them and that she worked needlessly and sloppily stiff. The last straw (which is what caused Nanae to smack the shit out of her) was her potatoing Shuu Shibutani and breaking her orbital bone because all Kana wanted to do was kick people in the face as hard as she could. Shibutani was also close friends with Fuka and Kana breaking her face caused her to miss Fuka's retirement show which is why she was persona non grata in Stardom. That was turned into a worked shoot angle where she got put into a match with Emi where Emi made her look like a chump.
