>>11180792Motherfucker, what the fuck do you think "middle class" actually means? Phil had several million in savings at his peak, and owns multi-million-dollar real-estate in two of the most expensive cities in the country. That's not remotely middle class. It's more than enough to live a very good life without ever having to work again.
But Phil didn't want to just live a very good life without ever having to work again. He wanted to be a crossover superstar like The Rock, only he decided to do this in the dumbest fucking possible way: wasting his efforts on an expensive, time-consuming, dangerous project that had zero chance of success (UFC); while also pursuing other projects that he had better odds with, but which he greatly reduced his chances for by trying to do them at the same time as his MMA career (comics, acting); while simultaneously spending lavishly on what would only ever be vanity projects and money sinks unless he really took them seriously (a tattoo parlor, whatever he was dumb enough to buy for Lars); while also living the ritzy celeb lifestyle (his homes in Chi and LA).
It would be tragic if his misfortune weren't both entirely deserved and impossible to sympathise with. It really makes you respect just how much smarter almost every other pro-wrestling star at his level or higher's been with their career and their money. Even the ones like Flair, who fucked everything up, at least fucked things up by having a lot more fun and being a lot less retarded.
