whats the proper watching order for the monday night wars? Do I watch it week by week or do like a month of nitro then a month of WWF? its my first time watching this era so I'm not sure what the optimal watch order is. previously up to 1996 I've just been watching all the WWF and just doing the PPV's for WCW

two tvs. Obtain uncut copies that have commercials included. Watch them on seperate tvs at the same time but make sure you start them based on the start times. like watch nitro for an hour before starting WWF during those weeks when they did that shit unopposed.

Definitely don't watch an entire chunk of Nitro then an entire chunk of Raw. You should at least watch the two shows together back to back because sometimes Nitro will reference something that just happened on Raw and shit on it, like the Mick Foley title win.

the actual "war" part only gets interesting briefly in 1998 and early 1999.

1996 and 1997 RAW is going to suck for you unless you like HBK, Bret Hart and Psycho Sid.

Nitro starts to get good in mid 1996 but is pretty much worthless by 1999. Golderberg vs Hogan is the peak of Nitro, you can stop after that.

There is some stuff like Goldust for example that would be sign of things to come but for example Austin does not immediately get hot after his legendary promo as some people believe and there is still a feel of kind of transitional period from the new generation era hokeyness. After WrestleMania 1998 is when at the latest things are in full on attitude era mode

January to March is great, it's the buildup to HBK vs Bret Hart and Diesel vs Undertake, April to November is HBK going over everyone, but you also have the start of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Undertaker vs Mankind throughout the summer. Then in the fall Bret Hart comes back and Psycho Sid comes in leading to 1997, and HBK fucks off for a little bit. It's a good year, HBK does have some decent matches defending his title.

Late 96 is quite good imo, around the time they start doing shit like the Pillman gun angle the show starts getting more interesting and characters get a bit edgier. Still quite a lot of new gen nonsense though.

Watch them together weekly. Like maybe watch Nitro first, then RAW, of save whatever one you feel is best at the time for last. Also, watch them from atleast 1995. You want to get a feel for what WCW was all about so you can really experience the nWo and it's impact. I would recommend watching some old school WCW ppv's and maybe some WWF Golden Era shows, too. This will help you feel the full impact of the heel turn. WWF new gen is good prep, too. You want to watch Austin's entire rise. There must be some good podcasts out there that you can follow along with. That kbwrestling site has good reviews, too. I myself am going to watch the WWF new gen and follow along with that podcast that goes from the end of Hulkamania to Attitude.
