Because his fanbase is a fanbase that has a rapidly declining population due to its suicide attempt rate being near 80%. Even during his most relevant time period 12 years ago when he was on ESPN every day during the Summer of Punk #2 he wasn't even a draw. The fact is he's just an incredibly unlikeable guy. Also, why would any casual fan be interested in him? The fact is even among non-obese Americans, CM Punk is shorter and lighter than most people. He is simply unremarkable. He looks like he thinks he's hot shit, but he has no good reason to think that of himself. He got embarassed in WWE, then got humiliated in UFC and on some reality show, and now he's embarrassing himself even more in AEW by clinging to the most mentally ill group of "people" in existence, LGBTQ "people", since they're such low-life, disgusting, pathetic creatures that self-loathe to such degree than anyone less mediocre than CM Punk is threatening and toxically masculine.
