He was a violent control freak who lost his cool and killed him wife out of cold blood after hitting her during an argument. Then he hid the body in the closet while trying to figure out how to make it look like an accident. Daniel found the body so Chris killed him too. Knowing he couldn't explain two murders and not wanting to spend the rest of life in prison, he took the coward's way out instead of owning his actions.
