>>11225021I have been playing MDickie games for about a decade and then some now and Wrestling Empire is definitely the best thing he's put out by now but objectively speaking I'd say it's an incredibly strange game. Mechanics wise it's nothing particularly special, the moves are slow and glitchy, there's no deep gameplay mechanics it's just punch or grapple, the AI is pretty shit, the physics are subpar, a lot of the times it's ridiculously non sensical etc. but for some reason it's still very fun to play. I think what primarily sets these games apart from the rest of the available wrestling vidya is just how much freedom there is to them. You get to make your own character, you get to pick the kind of style you want to wrestle, you get to make friends or enemies with whoever you please, you can sign with like 8 different promotions ranging from indie garbage to real wrestling promotions, you get to develop your character in any way you like, you get randomly thrown into storylines and that randomness aspect is what really works well here, at any point in time your wrestler can just get so badly injured you die in a hospital or you just get horrible rng and shoot die for various reasons like unironically getting murdered by one of your enemies etc.
The wrestling is also pretty unique, i can't think of many rassling games where you can light a stick of dynamite and throw it at your opponent or attack them with a sword. In previous installments you could also lose limbs. There's millions of match types as well including pretty much most things that have been done in the history of rassling.
If all that gets boring you can play booker mode too
