Like all wrestling death matches and ultra violence works when the basics are there. I’ll put 2006-2011 big Japan up against any promotion ever.
But indie wrestling is trash now, joshi is trash now, televised wrestling is trash now. And it only makes it worse when they shove in tacks and broken glass. Cool your match makes no sense, is completely heatless and you’re doing irreversible harm to yourself. At least when Dante Martin became little jelly leg it looked cool.
You know what would happen if you pulled out a bag of thumb tacks in a real fight? You’d get knocked out before you even opened the bag. I’m sure it’s unpleasant to fall into, but you don’t think a real righter wouldn’t pull guard into a pile of glass if it meant they could secure a choke? It’s not scary to real men and it wouldn’t win a fight, and almost never wins a fake fight lol.
