That was a parody of a boomer tv show that was decades older than the teens/20s audience of the Attitude Era, 70s/80s/90s kids didn't give a fuck about Leave it to Beaver.

It was a gimmick behind its times, not ahead of it

Wrong, ya dumb zoomer. I was a kid back then. Many of us in the '90s watched those old '50s shows because they aired them on Nickelodeon after 8pm on a block called Nick at Nite. Every kid I knew knew all about shows like Leave it to Beaver, I Love Lucy and Andy Griffith because we watched them in the summertime when we were allowed to stay up late.
