His real life situation was blended into his kayfabe so for a lot of people the on-screen Eddie was just as real as the behind the scenes one. He died right as he was entering the prime of his life, he had a legit US wrestling style heel turn right before he passed instead of the lucha inspired ones he had before, and he managed to get Bradshaw and Batiata over before he passed.
Bray simply didn't have that level of tragedy to his life. He had a lot of stop and go pushes but for the most part it doesn't feel like we were robbed of some future kino like we were with Eddie. This feels more like a Benoit situation where he died soon after his friend because he never truly recovered from that.
