At any rate, it seems now that he's going to be in this angle with MJF for a while. That may not have been the original plan, but it's fortuitous, because Better than You Bay Bay has given us way better shit than we could possibly have gotten from putting him in a stable with a broken-down Punk and winding-down Danielson.
Danielson is no Hall or Nash at this point. He's five years too old for that. Besides, he's said he's only got maybe a year or so left as an active wrestler. My best guess is that the match with Okada was probably the last time we'll see him in a PPV main event, unless maybe he gets a main event retirement match.
And Punk is two years older, and in worse physical shape, than Hogan was in '96. FFS, Punk can't even make the GTS look believable most of the time anymore. And he doesn't dare break out the Pepsi Plunge except on the rarest of occasions because his knees can't take it. He's had two different major injuries in the past 15 months. He and Joe are only a few months apart in age, but Joe, despite carrying much more weight, seems to be in overall better condition, to be more agile, and to have better stamina. Christian, who's five years older than Punk, is in better physical shape. Hell, 60-something Sting has had a better record over the past two years of staying healthy despite taking insane bumps.
Besides, Cole is no longer at the point where he benefits from being in a stable unless he's the leader. He would gain absolutely nothing from being in a faction with either Punk or Danielson, let alone both.
