Depends on how old you are. A lot of old guys think Sting was another Ultimate Warrior all body type who never would have achieved anything if Flair didn't make the fuck out of him in probably the most famous carryjob in wrestling history.
Essentially, it could have been anyone with that gimmick an that push.
Sting only really has respect from people who were children during Surfer Sting or teens during Rafter Sting. And obviously the people who grew up hearing he's a legend will believe he's a legend.
But ultimately every company he has headlined died or went bankrupt with Sting on top

I'm happy for him that he was able to come back and wrestle and actually take some bumps after the disastrous WWE run. I remember thinking he fucking died in his match with Freak Seffin' Rollins. I still missed one last singles match, and I think he could've done it too. I suppose it was better to play it safe and just do tag matches.
