>>11337390In elite level sports coaching, there's a simple idea. To successfully manage these types of personalities then you have to derive authority from somewhere, that falls into two categories: knowledge, people skills.
>High knowledge, high people skillsNot only are you an expert who is respected by all for your knowledge of the industry but you can convince people to go above and beyond for you. Vince McMahon is the only modern wrestling example. All the GOAT coaches fall into this.
>High knowledge, low people skillsExcellent and knowledgeable but can't manage people effectively. Bill Watts comes to mind. Someone like Dr House fits here too, Cornette too. Problem here is that everything is good when you're winning but when the results turn, your team will remember all the shit you said and depose you.
>Low knowledge, high people skillsPeople who don't know wrestling too well but have high people skills. This is very common in CEOs and I think TK fits here. The Chairman of Pfizer is not a world renowned scientist who understands everything but he doesn't have to be if he can manage people. The problem with this type is when things go wrong, you need expert knowledge in leadership. Bischoff fits here too and its why he could never right the WCW ship. Its interesting to see how Bischoff and Khan both fit in this group despite their style differencs theure more alike than either would admit.
>Low knowledge, low people skillsOr "I pay you so do as I say even if you disagree". Many indie promoters, these are conquerors - people who derive authority purely from position and they last about 16 seconds and are never successful. Jim Herd perhaps.
