I actually preferred the remake. It has a certain degree more intensity to it with the stripped-back melody and lower pitch. The original melody was kinda stilted in parts where it felt like someone just made it up on the spot, for example here's a kind of awkward tritone interval at the end of the main melody that doesn't really work. I do prefer the rolling snares in the original though which give it more of a marching feel.
