It's so telling that the completely average Dragon Gate tag match at ROH got 5 stars but none of the better Japanese, or even DGUSA matches did.
He was checked out, never really got his heart back in it until the bucks flew him out to PWG and named a move after him.

The mid 2000s were shit, WWE was at their lowest in term of in ring workrate and New Japan were suffering from Inokiism and the exodus that followed. NOAH was good for a few years but then dropped off hard too
