Even immediately after the Hangman match it seemed like he wasn't all that upset, despite apparently being worried Hangman's gonna try and take liberties from what he's said more recently. But then he broke his foot and all the backstage gossip didn't go away, they tried to get him to work while he's not cleared, the Bucks and Kenny have that locker room speech where Kenny basically says 80% of the locker room shouldn't have been hired(Which is kinda true but still), and it was just the kind of place someone as temperamental as him could do much.
Ultimately I think him and The Elite were just never gonna get along and it wasn't until he had to start working a program with one them did that become apparent, and since that was the world champ it was even worse.
