>>11437295>Bret got fucked with for years and yearsI think this is the main difference. Let's take them both attacking their boss for example:
With Bret, Vince was constantly fucking him around and siding with Shawn, who Bret fucking despised, while making promises to him that he never intended to keep. He was lied to and manipulated and he took it all in stride as best as he could for a long time. It took Vince screwing him over in the worst way possible, in the most infuriating of circumstances, for him to finally snap and physically attack him. And everyone there at the time universally agrees that he was completely justified in doing so.
Then you've got Punk. As Punk's boss, TK worshipped the ground he walked on. He was clearly TK's favorite and it showed. Unlike Vince, Punk could not have asked for a more accommodating boss in TK. He immediately positioned him to be the top guy, he gave him title reigns he didn't at all deserve, he let him main event AEW's biggest show, he brought him back when he had every right to fire him after the media scrum, gave him his own show with full creative control etc. TK treated Punk like royalty and spoiled him rotten, far more so than anyone else on the roster. Yet all it took was a benign dig at him by an irrelevant shitter like Perry, on a fucking pre-show of all things, for Punk to completely lose his head and attack Tony. Unlike Bret, he had absolutely no good reason to do this yet he still did it anyway.
So yeah, it's not even close. Bret had legitimate grievances with WWE (not even mentioning getting his brother killed) yet he still managed to make peace and bury the hatchet with these guys. Punk, meanwhile, will hold a lifelong grudge against you over the slightest perceived insult or slight. He's genuinely unhinged, Bret is just miserable for good reason.
