AEW started competing with them for indy talent and got almost everyone that Triple H wanted, including Hangman.

Indy wrestlers didn't want to come to NXT anymore so Triple H decided he's gonna recruit college athletes instead. They don't understand the business or even pro wrestling so the product suffers, psychology is noob level with them as well.

NXT was successful because they brought in the indy stars that fans already knew so matches like Balor vs Kevin Owens was a big deal. Nobody cares about feuds like Carmello Hayes vs Bron Breaker.

Triple H got greedy and thought a TV deal would turn what was essentially a niche show into a legitimate third brand with mainstream appeal, then all the draws fucked off to AEW, Haitch doubled down on muh edgy metal aesthetic and it killed NXT for good
