Roman though? Roman was at his peak when he was part of the Shield and it was all downhill from there. Year after year, ratings plummeted. Boos would get muted on tv and ppvs. He was put in the main event scene immediately. He's been given the headline of Wrestlemania year after year with many of them just resulting in a non-stop chorus of boos while Vince was desperately trying everything to get him cheered. So why would he keep at it? Vince has reversed course on other top guys before, so why not Roman?
Well, there's no statute of limitations on murder. The suspicions around Snukka were immense. If it had been revealed in the 80s that Snukka had killed his girlfriend, it would have killed pro-wrestling at a critical time in its growth. Snukka being outed as a murderer would have been 100 times worse than what Benoit was. So maybe Vince covered it up, and someone in the Samoan family has proof of that and is willing to go public if Vince doesn't take care of the family.
I admit, it's a theory, but it's the best reason I've ever been able to come up with for why Vince has kept on so stubbornly with the Roman experiment.
