The difference between all the locker room fights of yesteryear and the CM Punk stuff is that all the old ones were, for the most part, just coworkers having differences in a physical type environment. Nash and Bischoff had words, settled it, and moved on. Phil is mentally ill and incapable of burying the hatchet. Multiple people have said that he holds grudges over minor instances from decades ago. He gets rid of lifelong friends any time they outlive their usefulness, as he's proven three times as far as I know.
He's got some sort of mental issue, and you simply can't treat him the same you would anyone else. Ideally everyone would have talked it over like men, but that was never an option. Remember, if it was, this would have been solved when the elite went to talk to him over a year ago.

There are quite a few veterans of the business who've said Punk getting fired is good for wrestling.
The caveat is their reasoning; now Punk's gone, there's no scapegoat to blame for all the problems the Elite cause on a daily basis.
And critically, Tony Khan has exposed himself as a pussy who can't run a business.
Punk being fired is good, because it's gonna bite the Elite in the ass down the road.

If he wanted to take initiative and “make money” he didn’t need to start off his return promo by burying them again after 10 months then giving Hangman his 5th receipt a week later.
