People can more effectively entertain and inform each other with an endless, constantly updated stream of social media updates. You can find far more engaging content for free on YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, etc. TV doesn't indulge people's inherent vanity like social media can, either. Also, there's an infinite trove of scripted content from the past that people can readily consume. It's far better than the tripe that gets produced in the current year, too.
These are just some of the reasons why this strike won't end any time soon. Live wrestling content has to compete with the same factors that are KWABing scripted television and film as well. The most interesting shit in the wrestling business happens exclusively beyond its TV shows/kayfabe, as evidenced by /pw/ briefly becoming one of this site's most active boards as a result of Punk's firing.
