I feel like he knew from the Hangman feud that he made a big mistake and signed with a company that was never trying to compete, run as a glorified indy with TV and scattered with manchildren. You can see the shift from his anti-WWE stances.
It'll be a big deal, Meltzer and Alvarez will downplay it like they will the eventual free-fall from attendance and merch sales that AEW is going to have. They'll still be on TV, I'm sure.
