In no version of the story was that ever told. The spot was cleared for Perry to do and it was Punk who stepped in thinking he was the boss in charge going "OH NO NO NOT ON MY SHOW IM THE BOSS AROUND HERE"

CM Punk tried to physically assault Tony Khan.
Moreover than that, a big part of what the Disciplinary comittee looked into was the overall change in backstage environment since CM Punk had joined the company/returned for the 2nd time. And they made the determination that his presence there was detrimental to talent/staff morale + safety. There were many interviews conducted with many wrestlers asking about the general backstage environment with and without Punk around and how things had changed in the past 1-2 years.
That's a big part of what people are ignoring about all this, Punk wasn't fired for trying to assault Jack Perry, he was fired for trying to assault the CEO+Owner of the company and the general toxic environment that his presence there was very clearly causing.
The Disciplinary Comittee was comprised entirely of outside lawyers/HR meidators who aren't even in the wrestling business and were treating this as a real world grown up adult workplace and they identified Punk as the clear problem.
