The storyline about Matt trying to get the guys an endorsement deal goes back years ago before Punk every showed up, back when Brodie Lee was still alive. Hangman talked about wanting to use his endorsement money to buy a new lawn mower, then after the deal fell through the Dark Order claimed they got a Chili's deal, and Brodie Lee bought a bunch of new mowers and they mocked Hangman.
The only reason they brought up the storyline recently is because they were signing that extension with AEW, so they joked that because the endorsement deal fell through again thanks to Matt's fuck up, the guys already went into debt buying shit, so they will have to wrestle until they are old men to pay off their debts. It was a joke, and at no time did they ever mention Punk or any reference to anything tangentially related to Punk. Punk is just a schizo.
