I find this easy to believe given how long they held off on announcing how to watch it. I'm assuming they expected to have the Bleacher Report add-on for MAX ready in time for the show, since that's the most fitting place for AEW's content (it's not normie enough to be on MAX proper).
Anyway I really think that when WWE is basically giving away their PLEs on Peacock, having some sort of equivalent deal would be very beneficial in terms of getting eyeballs on your "best" content.
When WWE went to the Network, they made less money but basically doubled their PLE audience, and Brandon Thurston speculates that this has had significant positive downstream effects on the company's business.
