The claim comes from the rumour that the WarnerMedia top guy is paying AEW $1b for 4 years of TV consisting of the three shows we're getting.
The guy explicitly wanted CM Punk on TV though, and with that all fucked up, it's possible he'll pull an out from the contract and AEW can kiss its spot goodbye.
This is something I haven't seen anyone talk about, except a few hints to it on Dutch Mantell's podcast.

This shit is also fucking the TV people.
It's fucking advertising partners who were hoping to leverage Punk's heat magnet for the key demo to increase sales.
It's fucking venues who were expecting returns but now might be too big to host AEW.
It's also fucking the people at TBS and TNT, WarnerMedia. Collision was granted on the basis of Punk featuring on that show. There's nothing stopping the chief from pulling the show, as that condition can no longer be fulfilled.
All that fuckery is putting more and more pressure on Tiny Khunt.
With him saying that he told his dad to work with Bryan Danielson as a replacement CEO/Booker so soon after the London Glassjob, it's possible Tony's working up the "feared for my life" excuse.
But looking at exactly how many affiliates and businesspartners Tony's incompetence has fucked... he might actually be looking to leave.
