E-chad here. I don't watch AEW but I watched Punk in the last few years of his WWE run. How well does his AEW in-ring work and promo work hold up compared to his WWE run?

He was fucked with a lot in the ring by these young guys who don't respect the business like Hangman purposely backing up 2 feet so Punk would botch the Lariat. But he did what he could and did have good feuds with pro's like MJF.

Joe wasn't fucking with him, and he still looked like shit against him. In his final weeks with the company, Punk botched the GTS on Joe on Collision, and then botched the Pepsi Plunge on him at All In. Yes, Joe's weight was a contributing factor in both cases, but if Punk were in good ring shape himself that wouldn't have been such an issue. He never had a problem using either of those moves on Joe in the past.

It was all great right up until he got mindbroken by socially awkward cowboy horse man.
Since then, he started going off script, had weird cringe segments, literally made up a title out of thin air and then started booking himself on his own show.

He had the best storylines and psychology. People say he fell off but reality is that he just had the halo effect back in the day when people hyped him as the best. He always botched because he's always trying new shit or shit he might not be able to do like lifting up big men, etc. Match with Darby, feud with MJF, promos with Eddie, feud with Mox, stuff with Bullet Club Gold, can all be entertaining.

His years of working with legends in old ROH/OVW/WWE gave him a knakk for structuring matches that few possess in AEW but his body can't keep up with what he wants to do anymore and he's prone to botches. His best match was with Goldust on a random episode of Dynamite where they worked old school.
