Because Cena attracted a beneficial demographic and there are other wrestlers to draw edgy bucks from. Orton, Punk ,etc. existed as a balance.

No reason to fuck up the cash cow to appease them. They screwed with Austin too to "change things up" and look what happened.

Its retarded because mark kids will pop for any top babyface. It would've been beneficial for the creative to have an actually interesting character from Cena they can do more with, it would've benefited Cena's character itself by giving him some kind of depth, and it would have made those SuperCena years more bearable.

Once Cena is heel just turn Orton or Punk baby since they're all in the top echelon of merch movers. Cena was overtaken multiple times by new babyface ME talent
