No. You have to understand that a lot of AEW fans don't watch AEW because they specifically enjoy the show. I mean, they might have good shows and bad shows and they might enjoy bits and pieces but they're watching because they're activists.
They believe they're part of a movement, that they're standing up to the big bad corporation in the WWE, that this is what wrestling should be like with all the gay baiting.
For many of AEWs audience, it is a lifestyle brand rather than an entertainment medium. The fact its ran by the son of a billionaire who has never had a job that his Dad didn't pay for in his entire life seems to have slipped them by.
This means that AEW will be safe for the foreseeable future. You could fire the top 10 stars there and those people will still watch because they're not watching critically, they're watching communicatively. They feel part of the fight, part of the "revolution", they live vicariously not through the wrestling characters kayfabe stories but the actual wrestling company's actions themselves
I'm not criticising them for that. Everybody is free to enjoy things however they want to enjoy things. Whatever. But watching AEW is not the same as watching Succession or Game of Thrones. Their viewership is not based on quality but instead various interconnected brand loyalties and dirtsheet narratives.
