He was doing everything to get over with the fans, but he forgot they're all Smarks and they weren't going to cheer for him unless he turned Heel. Which i'm sure ultimately proved to him what a giant fucking waste of time it was to remain in AEW, and removed any doubts about jumping ship to WWE.
