Back then, matches between dudes nobody cared about would last 3 minutes. This would continue until one of those people got over or was fired. None of this 'maybe youll get better' shit for years on end. You were awesome or you werent in wwf for more than a year.
No one was interchangeable. Everybody had proper characterization and storylines that made sense, often sponning in to one another.
Every show had a throughline that woukd regularly carry from week to week so if you didnt give a fuck about whatever matches that night, there was still reason to see what crazy shit rock, taker, kane, austin, dx and mankind were up to.
Russo didnt do it alone, but he was the only guy that ever got to treat wwf like a tv show instead of a wrestling show.
