Yes. Hot crowd, despite some sloppiness from both, it felt like two guys trying to win a match rather than do spots, excellent swerve with the Vince and Ace coming out, finish made sense, right guy went over, they swerved us again with Del Rio coming out only to get kicked.

It really was.

no, both John Cena and especially CM Punk are third rate wrestlers, athletically and artistically

their money in the bank match is overrated and admired purely from an out-of-ring storytelling point of view

This was the most invested I've been in a wrestling match. Punk leaving through the crowd with the title as he blows a kiss to Vince was THE perfect end to a show.
I wish they followed up with the story and had Punk defending the title on the indies or whatever.

I think the reason for sloppiness was that it was entirely called in the ring. There wasn't a plan for any spots. I could have sworn I heard one of them say that in an interview. So, for a match like that to be totally called on the fly is a testament to both the skill of both guys.

I give it that, but both men are unathletic. But, it's why I like both of them. They have better psychology than people want to admit. I'll take Cena vs Phil here or in their 2013 match over any of Meltzer's last ten "five-star matches"

Cena is good at character work and building up feuds, not so much at actual in-ring stuff.

Phil is the same. He sucks in-ring but knows how to build up anticipation.

The match they had on Raw where Punk piledrove him was better. They had some classics during that era where there was a lot of shitty wrestling in WWE.

Yeah I was lapsed during this match and went back to watch it after I got the network. I had missed all of punks run (stopped watching from 2002-2015) and I remember thinking that the GTS does not look good when he pulls it on Cena. I assume it's similar to trying to explain why Austin making Vince piss himself with a gag gun was the most baddassed shit imaginable in 1998. You'll never understand unless you were there.
