AEW Grand Slam in 2021 drew1.273 million viewers with a 0.48 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.

Kenny and Danielson match drew 1.3m+

So why didn't this year's episode do the same or better with Joe and MJF headlining?

Because it was a match people wanted to see at a time where the company was at its greatest height. But now that WWE has found its footing again AEW's interest is suffering as a result. Also it was on TNT, which had a much more appropriate audience for pro wrestling instead of TBS.
