I feel like he knew once he won the title but got hurt right away that he was fucked in Vince's eyes and the final nail was after nothing happened after Survivor Series in 2014. After that he was just IC title level and never could go anywhere past that and accepted it.

You can't blame Dolph for phoning it in. He worked his ass off and got over, to the point WWE finally pulled the trigger on him. Then shortly into that run he got concussed by Swagger and then jobbed out on his return in a great double turn against Del Rio. After that they just gave up on him. I get what he means, I think he's phrasing it poorly. Ziggler more than Cody, more than Drew, more than even Cardona, needed to leave and prove himself. It also probably would've allowed him to make a name for himself (so they can change his name). It's tough to feel bad for him because he spent all that time whining on Twitter in the mid 10's but never made the move. People are saying he still got a 20 year career out of it, which is true. But, he could've made so much more.

I think when people think "Well he's making money" they don't realize that once you have it, you have to find something that makes you happy. Cardona said he's happier now than he ever was in WWE. He has their money already, but it was unfulfilling. I left a job that paid me 178k because it fucking depressed me and I had their money already. Took a role for 130k that lets me do whatever the fuck I want on the side. Sometimes, money isn't everything and being complacent can fuck you ever.
