>>11676049Not a unreasonable statement. Most small businesses break even within 3-5 years as part of their loan packages from the bank. However AEW isn't a small business, its closer to a startup with Angel investors or venture capitalists. These usually take 5 to 10 years to profitability.
When I say AEW is closer to a tech startup, I don't mean it in terms of product. AEW should be your average SME. The only reason it's treated like a startup is because of the people involved and their sources of wealth. Khan is your typical startup founder. He's inexperienced in the product, in the industry, has an inflated sense of accomplishment and no clear road map to profitability, instead just changing tacks often.
AEW, I believe at least, is a success. Its a success because we all define that by our own terms in business. Most by profitability, some by revenue, some by market position, some by employee count or share price. However you define your business goals determines whether its a success.
I believe that Tony Khan wanted to create a nationally televised weekly wrestling show that he could book and do PPVs with. I think that was his goal and by his terms, AEW has succeeded. I don't think he is going to ever make anywhere close to the initial investment back out of AEW and while it might turn a profit here or there, that's never going to be the focus of the company.
